The USA consists of 50 states and is the largest federation as well as the third-biggest state on this earth. The country of unlimited possibilities as it is often referred to offers so much to visitors that it makes them spoilt for choice. The many different climatic zones open a wonderful range of landscapes: the wild Rocky Mountains, the planes of the Nevada desert, the sunshine state Florida or the Great Lakes, to name but a few. Not to mention the vibrant metropoles such as New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Las Vegas for which you definitely need to take your time to explore. This melting pot of nations and cultures are as faceted as their population structure which has been influenced by hundreds of years of immigration. Let yourself be swept away by the "American dream"!

USA

The epitome of the USA is certainly New York, the Big Apple, the city where the Empire State Building stands, where you don't know which of the countless skyscrapers to gaze at first. Where you can walk for hours through Central Park in the middle of the city and meet the most diverse and interesting people. Where the term shopping takes on a new definition, because there are no limits to what you can do. There are countless possibilities in the world metropolis!

At the other end of the continent, on the west coast in sunny California, lies San Francisco. The city that is famous for the 42 steep hills on which it is built and for the cable car lines, cable-drawn trams from the 19th century that jingle up and down there every day. You should definitely visit the Fishermen's Wharf district with its many cafés, restaurants and bars as well as the colourful hustle and bustle at Pier 39. The city's most famous landmark, however, is certainly the Golden Gate Bridge, the dazzling red bridge that connects San Francisco with Marin County. The city also includes the world-famous prison island of Alcatraz and other islands, some of which are inhabited.

San Francisco and the West Coast are inevitable bestsellers. Starting in the city of the rich and beautiful, Los Angeles, and visiting its highlights such as Beverly Hills with Rodeo Drive, Hollywood with Universal Studios, Venice Beach with the Venice Boardwalk or Malibu. Continue on to Joshua Tree National Park, which encompasses two completely different types of desert, and then to the Grand Canyon. The 450-kilometre-long and up to 1800-metre-deep canyon can be explored either on foot along the southern rim or, a little more adventurously, by helicopter - certainly an unforgettable experience!

Not far from here lies Las Vegas, the city of gambling, like a dazzling oasis in the middle of the Nevada desert. Also nearby is Death Valley, almost 100 metres below sea level, which, despite being so close to the Pacific Ocean, is one of the driest areas on earth. You can only stay here if the temperatures allow it, it quickly becomes too warm even for the most heat-resistant. A little further north is Yosemite National Park, one of the most beautiful parks in California and a UNECSO World Heritage Site since 1984, because here waterfalls, clear streams, impressive cliffs, redwood trees and the biodiversity of the animal inhabitants harmonise in a particularly unique way.

The west coast of the USA is indescribably diverse and it is certainly difficult for anyone to choose just a few of the countless highlights here - at least it is always worth a trip!
