Guatemala

The old capital La Antigua Guatemala was capital of the Spanish colony from 1543-1773 and has been part of the UNESCO world heritage since 1979 - the baroque colonial architecture is very beautiful! In the surrounding area, one can find active volcanoes that can be seen from afar. High up in the north of the country lies Tikal, an ancient city of the Maya. The most important Mayan city in the 3rd up until the 9th century boasts an impressive temple, and this is one of the best researched Mayan cities with more than 3,000 buildings. Not all of the areas outside the complex have been reaearched thoroughly, and it is estimated that around 10,000 buildings are still to be found there, houses for people as many as 200,000! Right in the middle of the volcanic area, nestled between the volcanoes Tolimán, Atitlán and San Pedro lies lake Atitlán, since 1955 a nature park with plenty of fish that came into existence through the eruption of a volcano.

Guatemala is waiting to be discovered. Find out what our incoming partners have in store for your clients!
