Oman, legendary land of frankincense

Oman is located on the SE coast of the Arabian Peninsula, to the north/NW is the border with the United Arab Emirates, which was only established in 1999.

One of the main attractions of the legendary land of frankincense is the diversity and beauty of its still largely untouched landscapes - white beaches, vast desert landscapes with golden dunes, wadis with deep gorges, green oases and small natural pools as well as the exciting mountain landscapes of the Hajjar Mountains and the fjords of the Musandam Peninsula await the visitor. For the culturally interested visitor, old villages with traditional clay buildings and ancient fortresses leave nothing to be desired. Compared to other metropolises, the capital Muscat is cosy. Visitors can expect a neat, clean and above all green city with flowery white settlements, magnificent palaces and long sandy beaches. A visit to the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, is particularly impressive. The climate can be divided into three zones. The north and east along the coast are hot and humid. The south is influenced by the monsoon in summer, which brings humidity. In the interior, it is dry and hot all year round. In summer it can get over 40 degrees. Best time to travel: October - April/May.
