Croatia

Split is the second largest city in the country after the capital Zagreb and is therefore popularly known as the capital of Dalmatia. The origins of the city go back to Diocletian's Palace, which, together with the city centre, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The city, which is one of the most beautiful in the country, offers a variety of options for visitors. While some spend the day on one of the beautiful beaches, others can travel back to antiquity and marvel at the impressive buildings in the 1700-year-old city centre.

At the very bottom of Croatia in Dalmatia lies Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic. In the surrounding area, dreamlike landscapes such as the Konavle Valley, and in the city, one of the most enchanting old towns in Europe, whose silhouette with the wall has remained almost unchanged since the Middle Ages. Due to constant maintenance, it is also considered one of the most detailed medieval images. As a result, it was also used, among other things, as a filming location for the TV series Game of Thrones. In the immediate vicinity of the old town you will find beautiful Mediterranean beaches.

In the middle of the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Dalmatia lies the lavender island of Hvar. The island with the most hours of sunshine in Europe - a whole 2,726! - is one of the ten most beautiful islands in the world. It is also known for its olive and wine growing and, as the name suggests, the lavender that grows everywhere. The island is also very versatile in other ways, whether you want to enjoy the pleasantly warm water on the beach or prefer to explore nature on one of the numerous hiking trails - there is much to do in Hvar; a visit is a highlight in any case!
