Versatile Vietnam

Vietnam - that is the wonderful mixture of the tranquil idyll of country life, the unspoilt coastline with endless beaches, the spectacular rock formations in Halong Bay and the almost hectic hustle and bustle of the metropolises Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, a mix that captivates many visitors. In addition, hotels and resorts in all price ranges with a perfect infrastructure offer every comfort for a dream holiday.

Capital: Hanoi

Hanoi, formerly Thang Long, the "City of the Rising Dragon", became the official capital of Vietnam in 1954 with the signing of the Geneva Agreement. Later, the city suffered greatly from the destruction caused by American bombing during the Vietnam War, and the end of the conflict meant a long period of withdrawal from the outside world. It was not until the 1990s and the beginning of Doi Moi's economic freedoms that Hanoi opened up to the rest of the world again. Today, Hanoi is a capital city of irresistible charm, where traditions and legends meet, lined with lakes, avenues and lush parks.

Hoi An

Peaceful and ancient, Hoi An is one of the most famous destinations in all of central Vietnam, attracting tourists not only from within the country but also from around the world. For many centuries, Hoi An was an obligatory stopover for all trading ships from Europe and Asia passing through the region, much like Macao and Malacca. Thus, Hoi An has experienced and absorbed numerous Chinese, Japanese and French architectural influences. Today, the city has more than 800 listed historic buildings and its city centre is closed to traffic as it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition to its historical heritage and the charm of its small streets, the city is also known for its culinary specialities, its large white sandy beach and the numerous boutiques where you can buy tailoring, antique ceramics and lanterns.
